I've pursued this mission as a martech entrepreneur (ion), a partnerships executive at a major public company (HubSpot), a conference organizer (MarTech), an advisor to breakthrough startups and unicorns (OfferFit, Workato), and a best-selling author (Hacking Marketing). For my pioneering work in the marketing technology space for over two decades, AdAge nicknamed me the "godfather of martech." As VP Platform Ecosystem at HubSpot, I shaped the company's platform ecosystem strategy and led business programs for its global technology partners. Before that, I was the co-founder and CTO of ion, a SaaS company that pioneered no-code interactive content for global enterprises (Cisco, Dell, DHL, General Mills, Microsoft, etc.) and was acquired in 2017. Since 2008, I've also run chiefmartec with over 80,000 readers, analyzing martech — topics at the intersection of marketing, technology, and management. As one of my projects, I created the Marketing Technology Landscape, mapping the growth of the marketing technology industry from a few hundred vendors to 15,000. In 2014, I launched the MarTech conference and served as the event's program chair through 2021, bringing together a community of thousands of senior marketing and technology leaders.
